Paul Newton of the University of Southern California presents "Gaming the Cancer-Immunity Cycle by Synchronizing the Dose Schedules" at IPAM's Mathematics of Cancer: Open Mathematical Problems Workshop. Abstract: I will describe an evolutionary game-theory mathematical model of the cancer-immunity cycle and describe several results regarding the combination, timing, and optimization associated with chemotherapy and immunotherapy dosing schedules in the context of competition and time-dependent selection pressure. The model makes use of both positive and negative feedback loops, and we highlight the value of synchronizing the dosing schedules with the fundamental period of the cycle. We show that optimized timing of the dose schedules can make up for lower total dose, opening up new possibilities for designing less toxic and more efficacious dosing regimens (S. Mahmoodifar, K.
