In this minicourse, I will explore the notion of equivalence between codes, a well-known concept in coding theory, which leads to the so-called code equivalence problem. Since this notion can be formulated as a group action, the code equivalence problem recently found many interesting applications in cryptography. I will discuss the main ones, and introduce the audience to all relevant works in the area.
