Solv and Nil: visualization with serious and not-so-serious applications

Abstract
In this talk, we will focus on two anisotropic three-dimensional geometries: Solv and Nil. In comparison to isotropic non-Euclidean geometries, they still pose a challenge to comprehend and feel unnatural, not only to the general public but also to researchers. We will discuss methods for real-time native geodesic rendering of the first-person perspective in Solv and Nil. The theory will be accompanied by real-world applications, particularly the game Nil Rider and the network analysis of brain connectomes.
