Abstract
Over many decades, mathematicians have learned much about the distribution of the roots of single variable polynomials whose coefficients are independent, identically distributed Normal random variables. In this talk I will discuss extending these ideas to random sums that aren't necessarily polynomials. They could be random Fourier series or sums using other basis functions. I will also discuss how things change when the random coefficients aren't iid Normal but are some other interesting distribution.
