Let f_n be a random polynomial of degree n with i.i.d. mean zero subgaussian coefficients. We prove a law of large numbers result for log|disc(f_n)| where disc(f_n) is the discriminant of the polynomial f_n. This quantifies the repulsion between the roots of f_n.
