We have recently added a database of finite groups to the LMFDB that includes subgroups, characters, and more. We discuss the features of the database, especially those that distinguish it from other available databases of groups. The creation of the finite groups database required many large-scale computations, and we mention some mathematical problems we encountered along the way. We hope that this database can foster connections among other collections in the LMFDB, and we give a sampling of relationships between the finite groups database and some of these other collections.
