In this talk we will describe a method for computing the point of smallest height over all number fields of a given degree, for a fixed elliptic curve defined over the rationals. We then describe a large computation done to collect data in the quadratic case, and investigate what these data suggest about the constants appearing in related conjectures of Lehmer and Lang.
